Common Mistakes To Avoid When Puppy Potty Training

Training a puppy might not be the easiest task but if you are patient and smart enough to avoid some of the common mistakes then it is an achievable feat. Most of the puppies get really confused because the owners make many mistakes at the beginning of the training period. If you do not follow a set schedule and set technique then you might end up cleaning after your pet a lot.

Inconsistent Schedule

Just like babies are habit driven, puppies function and behave in a similar manner. Once you have set a proper schedule for your pet to do their business then make sure to stick to the schedule. You cannot expect the puppy to hold their pee in until you are free to take them outside.

Lack of Care

Most of the people adopt or get a new puppy because they think they are cute. But it is important to take responsibility of the pup and to take care of it. If you are one of those people who have a busy schedule and lack time and energy to take care of the puppy, then avoid putting the puppy through all the problems and discomfort.

Command Words

Set a certain word as a command when training a puppy to ensure that they listen to the command and perform accordingly. If you keep changing the command word or are careless about it then your pet will be confused and not know where and when to perform the deed.

Training a puppy needs patience and meticulousness. To ensure that your pet understands you, you need to make a solid effort to make them understand and sternly but softly command them to do their business at the designated potty spot.
